Medal haul at BSJA Nationals. Source : Geoff Griffiths, Monday, March 31, 2008.
The team from Carmarthen consisted of two young men and two young ladies each of whom had trained hard for this competition. Catrin Davies, representing Ysgol Bro Myrddin, got the show on the road with a fantastic performance gaining the bronze medal and returning home with a smile on her face. Kate Walters, representing Queen Elizabeth High, fought in a very competitive weight group and found it hard going, despite this she put up a performance to be proud of returning with a bronze medal. The first of the young men to take part was Jonathan Earle, representing Queen Elizabeth High, who found the going very tough, he put up a performance to be proud of and narrowly missed out on a medal position. Gareth Davies, representing Ysgol Bro Myrddin, showed skill and determination in his group fighting against people who were very experienced, despite an early setback he stormed through the opposition and gained a well deserved bronze medal." Their coach from Carmarthen, Louise Beard, watched the performances and said "These youngsters are starting on their competitive careers and are showing excellent skill which ranks with the best in the country." The competitors would like to thank the Club, their coach and their parents for supporting them in their endeavours.
