Louise Beard (left) nominated for Coach of the Year.

On Wednesday 7th. of February 2007 a star studded guest list attended the Carmarthenshire Sports Personality Awards for 2006. Two of Carmarthen Judo Clubs members had been nominated and had reached the final three.

Louise Beard, Club Coach, was nominated by the club for coach of the year. This nomination was for outstanding service in 2006 where she continued to coach and support members at weekend competitions and gradings. Louise wasn't chosen this year but Mr. Steadman Davies of Sanshirokwai, Llanelli was chosen. "I suppose if you are going to be beaten its a consolation that it went to a judo coach of Steadmans reputation" she added.

Richard Evans, Disabled Sports Personality of the Year Runner Up.

Richard Evans, a member of Carmarthens WISP Judo, was nominated in the Disabled Sports Personality of the Year for 2006. He had a great year fighting in competitions all over Europe. He did so well that he has been chosen to represent Great Britain in the Olympis being held in China. Well done for this and comiserations on losing out in the final of the presentation.

But well done for getting into the last three. He was presented with a certificate by Dave Gilbert Director of Regeneration with Carmarthenshire County Council"
