Ceri Griffiths, 15, of Rhydargaeau recently won gold and silver medals at two major judo championships.

The Carmarthen Judo Club member reached the final of the Ogwr under 18 Open tournament at Bridgend, but had to settle for the silver medal.

But he went one better the following day at the Irfon junior championships at Builth Wells when he won the final and claimed the gold medal.

Both tournaments attracted hundreds of competitors from all over England and Wales, as well as a team from Germany.

Ceri is coached by Mr L Singer.
